Target Audience

This course is ideal for you if you are working with individuals who have, or are at risk of having pressure areas.

 

Aims

This course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of how to support individuals with pressure area care.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will know the anatomy and physiology of the skin, what pressure is and the risk factors that make indivudals more susceptible to developing pressure areas.  You will also know about the grades of pressure sores and how they can be avoided.  You will have an understanding of how to prepare for, and undertake, pressure area care including the equipment and resources available to use.

  • The anatomy and physiology of the skin in relation to pressure area care
  • Good practice in relation to own role when undertaking pressure area care
  • Why you must follow the agreed care plan
  • The use of materials, equipment and resources available when undertaking pressure area care
  • How to prepare to undertake pressure area care
  • How to undertake pressure are care

This course links directly to QCF Unit 2024; Undertake agreed presure area care.  You may use your learning from attending this course towards the Level 2 and 3 Health and Social Care Diploma.
