Target Audience

This course is ideal for you if you are new to working within the Health and Social Care sector.  It is also relevent for experienced staff who would like to refresh their knowledge and skills.

Aims

This course aims to introduce you to the person centred values and how to promote them in your work. You will learn about the impact of factors in the individual's immediate environment and how to change or minimise factors that are causing discomfort or distress.  This will include making others aware of how their actions may be causing discomfort and distress to others. You will consider how to support individuals to manage pain and discomfort. The course ends by exploring how you can support an individual to maintain their identity and self esteem and what you must do if you have concerns about an individual's wellbeing.

Learning Outcome

At the end of this course you will:-

  • Be aware of how the individual's immediate environment may cause discomfort and distress and how to minimise this
  • Know how to make others aware of how their actions may be affecting others
