Target Audience

This course is ideal for you if you are new to working within the Health and Social Care sector.  It is also relevent for experienced staff who would like to refresh their knowledge and skills

Aims

This course aims to teach you the Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work. This course complies with the Health and Safety Executive recommendations and is regulated by Ofqual.

You will be required to undertake three practical assessments and complete a short multiple choice paper.  The certificate is nationally recognised and valid for three years.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:-

  • Carry out basic First Aid tasks
  • Adminster Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Assist an individual who is choking

Course Contents

  • Aims and principles fo First Aid
  • Action at an emergency
  • Basic life support
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded, bleeding or shocked
  • Asessment and treatment of a casualty suffering from a head injury
  • Assessment and treatment of a casualty suffering from breathing diffculties
  • Assessment and treatment fo a casualty with a heart condtion
  • Assessment and treatment of bleeding, fractures and burns

Progression

Learners who complete the Care Certificate may wish to progress to the QCF Health and Social Care Diploma.
