Target Audience

This course is ideal for you if you are new to working within the Health and Social Care sector.  It is also relevent for experienced staff who would like to refresh their knowledge and skills

Aims

This course aims to introduce you to child maltreatment. This includes the meaning of neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse and the signs that these may be taking place.  You will also learn what you need to do if you suspect a child or young person is being abused or neglected.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will know:-

  • What child maltreatment is
  • What you must do if you suspect a child or oung person ( met in any circumstances) is being abused or neglected.

  • The rights of a child
  • The legislative framework to protect children and Young people
  • How to raise concerns about a child or young person
  • Recording and reporting allegations and suspicions of abuse
  • How to get information, advice and support

 Progression

Learners who complete the Care Certificate may wish to progress to the QCF Health and Social Care Diploma.
